Hazards at Home
| Ordinary items in your home can be dangerous things to young children, in
particular infants and toddlers. These children tend to be "top-heavy"
as their little bodies haven't yet grown to match the size of their heads. Water
filled objects like buckets and toilets will draw the attention of a curious
toddler who can quickly fall head-first into the water. |
 |
The bathtub is an all-too-common place where infants drown in the brief
absence of an adult. Even leaving for "a minute or two" to answer the
telephone or perform a chore can be long enough for an infant to fall face first
into the tub. Even an inch of water can be fatal to someone who can't yet raise
up their own head.
